China Care Gateway

Flagship pathway · Oncology

Start with a second opinion. Travel only if it fits.

Every oncology pathway begins at home: specialists at a major cancer centre in China review your records and give a written opinion on the options open to you there. If — and only if — that review identifies a pathway worth travelling for, we coordinate it: surgery, precision radiation including proton and heavy-ion therapy, systemic therapy, and, where China's regulator has approved them for your condition, cell therapies such as CAR-T.

The Bo'ao Lecheng medical pilot zone in Hainan can also provide regulated access to certain medicines and devices approved abroad but not yet available elsewhere in mainland China. Whether any of this applies to your case is a clinical judgement made by the reviewing institution, not a promise made here.

How the oncology pathway works

Start from home — specialist review

After your pathway review is arranged, your records — diagnosis, imaging, pathology, treatment history — are exchanged through a separate secure channel and reviewed by specialists in the relevant tumour field. You receive a written second opinion: the options the institution sees for you in China, and how they compare with continuing care at home.

Before you travel

If you decide to proceed, complex cases are discussed by a multidisciplinary team. You receive a written pathway outline naming the institution proposed for you, the planned approach, realistic timelines, and an itemized quote — before anything is booked.

During treatment

We coordinate appointments, interpretation, and records translation for the duration of your stay, and keep your family and your home physician informed at the points you specify. Treatment itself is delivered and directed by the institution's physicians.

After you return

Your treatment records, imaging, and discharge summaries are organized and translated into a handover package for your own oncologist, and we coordinate follow-up communication between your home physician and the institution where questions arise.

No outcome can be promised, for any therapy, by anyone. Innovative therapies — including clinical-stage options and cell therapies — are offered only where the institution judges them appropriate and lawful for your specific case, under China's regulatory framework. Participation in any clinical study is decided by the institution under its own ethics and eligibility process.

Traditional Chinese medicine is sometimes used alongside conventional treatment as supportive care; where relevant, this is described on our TCM page and arranged only in coordination with your treating team.

Who this is not for: anyone whose condition needs immediate emergency intervention should be treated locally first. This pathway is for considered decisions, made with full information — never for last-minute desperation purchases, and we will say so plainly if a review concludes that travelling would not help you.

Process and timeline

1

Inquiry

Day 0. A short text inquiry; first reply within 24–48 hours. No medical records at this stage.

2

Second opinion

Typically 1–2 weeks once your records are received: a written specialist review of the options open to you in China.

3

Plan & written quote

Typically within a further week: pathway outline, named institution, timelines, and an itemized written quote.

4

Treatment in China

Length depends on the modality: surgery typically involves a stay of about 2–3 weeks; a proton or heavy-ion course runs 4–7 weeks; approved cell therapy involves several weeks including preparation and monitoring.

From first inquiry to a treatment decision, most oncology pathways take three to five weeks, most of it before you travel anywhere.

Cost

Treatment (hospital charges) Hospital charges for cancer treatment vary extremely widely — by therapy, by drug, and by the individual case — and the international departments of China's top-tier hospitals price each case individually. We therefore do not publish prices for robotic cancer surgery, proton or heavy-ion therapy, or CAR-T cell therapy. Before you make any commitment, your full hospital charges are confirmed in a written, itemized quote prepared for your specific plan. Hospital charges are paid to the institution.
Our coordination service fee Quoted in writing before booking, as a fixed figure. The pathway review and second opinion are a paid first step, their fee confirmed in writing before you proceed. Our revenue is this service fee only — we receive nothing from the institution.
Travel & stay At cost and arranged to your preference. Longer treatment courses involve extended stays; accommodation options at different levels are set out in your written quote.

We do not publish indicative prices for cancer treatment: the spread between therapies, hospitals and individual cases is too wide for a published figure to be meaningful. Your binding figures are the ones in the written, itemized quote prepared for your specific case, confirmed before you commit to anything.

Pricing policy — no cancer-treatment prices are published on this page. Hospital charges are confirmed per case in your written, itemized quote, before any commitment.
