For patients facing long waits at home for a hip or knee replacement, spine surgery, or sports-injury repair, this pathway starts with a remote review of your imaging by an orthopaedic team in China. Once a plan is confirmed, surgery at high-volume centres is typically scheduled within weeks — with rehabilitation started in China and a structured plan handed over for your return home.
International-brand implants are in routine use, and robotic-assisted joint replacement is available at some centres; the implant and approach proposed for you are specified in your written pathway outline.

Start from home — imaging review
Your X-rays, MRI or CT imaging and reports are exchanged through a separate secure channel and reviewed by the institution's orthopaedic team. You receive a written opinion: whether surgery is indicated, what is proposed, and what recovery realistically looks like.
Before you travel
Your written pathway outline names the institution, the surgeon group, the implant to be used, dates, and an itemized quote. We also agree the practical plan for your return: when you can fly, what support you will need, and who provides your rehabilitation at home.
During your stay
Pre-operative assessment, surgery, and the start of rehabilitation in hospital are coordinated with interpretation throughout, typically over a stay of about two weeks for joint replacement.
After you return
Operative records, implant details, imaging, and your rehabilitation protocol are organized and translated for your own physician and physiotherapist, so your recovery continues on the plan the surgical team set.
Surgery and anaesthesia carry risks, and recovery timelines vary between patients. Rehabilitation after you return home is part of the treatment, not an optional extra; your pathway outline states what the surgical team expects it to involve.
Who this is not for: acute injuries and fractures need immediate local care. This pathway is for planned, elective orthopaedic care.
Process and timeline

Day 0. A short text inquiry; first reply within 24–48 hours. No medical records at this stage.
Imaging review
Typically about one week once your imaging is received: a written opinion and proposed plan.
Plan & written quote
Typically within a further week: named institution, implant specification, dates, and an itemized written quote.
Surgery & initial rehabilitation
Hospital stay typically 5–7 days for joint replacement, with most patients spending about two weeks in China in total before flying home to continue rehabilitation.
From first inquiry to surgery, most orthopedics pathways take four to six weeks.
Cost
